Dragonflies Aplenty
Dragonflies Aplenty
While on R&R in Maine over the weekend, we had a huge number of dragonflies around the camp. Most notably were the American Emeralds and Racquet Tailed Emeralds along with many White Face species and some showy specimens like this Twin-spotted Spiketail. The Spiketails are very big and one of the most handsome of insects.
As usual in the dragonfly realm, we were able to add two new species to the Maine Odonate Atlas for Kennebec County: the Ashy Clubtail and Harpoon Clubtail. Every adventure leads to discovery.
