Ipswich River Nature

Last week my mother-in-law found this salamander under the dog dish.  Her  reaction was two-fold: “oh, look its laid some eggs” and, “oh my word! where can I put it so it is safe?”

First it has not laid eggs, it is with some slug eggs, maybe eating them for dinner?

And, it is no safer anywhere else because it knows where it is and to move it would place it into an environment it does not know.

And yes, this has been reported to Mass. Natural Heritage for inclusion in the rare species database of all state-listed rare animals.
